What I’ve been working on

There hasn’t been a whole heck of a lot of knitting going on. I finished the knitting part of Lady Eleanor late last week (photos soon). Now I just need to block and fringe her. Neither of these will happen any time soon. In the meantime, I have yet to cast on another project.

The second picture is nearly two tons of garbage. How near you ask? Approximately 1.9 tons of garbage. That’s nearly two tons to me.

The early part of the week was spent recovering from the weekend. I went to bed early two nights in a row. Then last night I finally taped the archway in the living room for painting. I had originally planned on doing this a couple weeks ago. Better late then never.

I hope to do more knitting this weekend.

Liquid Courage

I tried to get the courage to cast on 76 stitches onto size 1 needles last night.



I failed. The needles and the number of stitches intimidated me. I looked through my patterns and found a sock with thicker yarn and slight larger needles. I may cast on this weekend.

In other news, I got my March Color-iffic-Swap-o-Rama today. It came all the way from Portugal. Look at this wonderful package!

Revealed

This evening I “revealed” myself to my secret pal. She posted a photo of the third package so I left a comment on her blog. Now that she knows who I am, I can post photos of what I sent her.



It was a fun challenge. Ellie , my pal, requested vegan self-striping sock yarn. My first thought (and I am oh so embarrassed to admit this) was “Great! Sheep are vegan.” Then I thought that seemed way too easy. Of course she meant sock yarn with no animal products. Doh!

Once I realized what she wanted, my first thought was of Crazy Cotton as I have some in my stash. I went to Yarn Garden and got their last three balls (phew). I looked around and you'd be amazed at how many sock yarns have wool in them (almost all of them). I also found that Blue Moon Fibers has a cotton/synthetic blend but I can’t remember the name of the yarn.

I really enjoyed my Secret Pal experience. I will probably sign up again in the winter. In the meantime, I will wait for my pal to reveal herself.

I do have a knitting update. I continue to make progress on Lady Eleanor the Third. I’m currently on ball number nine. I tried her on this weekend and I definitely want her to be longer.




I also received a yummy package from my Secret Pal last week. How did she know I have a soft spot for frosted sugar cookies?



Here is my new project. I will make this entire wall yellow. Tomorrow I will tape the wood work. Then Thursday night I will prime it. Then I will (hopefully) paint on Friday night and Saturday. Once I finish that, I get to tackle the ceiling in the living room. Whoo-ho. Nothing like scraping lead based paint!

Secret Pal

My Secret Pal has done it again! See for yourself...



The yarn is Malabrigo worsted weight in Emerald Blue. It's really soft and lovely.

As you can also see from the photo, it's time for me to learn to crochet. If only I had the time right now to do it. :)
