Afternoon snack

Fresh mozzarella on an olive roll with a fresh local peach. Yum.

I've been making progress on the Icarus shawl but you can't really tell. I'm almost done with the body and will be moving on to the feathers soon.

free time

This afternoon I spent a little time all on my own out in the real world. It was nice to have a little me time. I knit and had a snack. The shawl is slowly progressing. I really pushed myself and got three rows done.

I'm afraid I picked the wrong project. I should have picked something in a thicker yarn that wouldn't take so long. By the time I'm finished the all recipient's troubles will be a distant memory and she'll be wondering why I made this for her (fingers crossed).

I miss my socks.

A full box

A full CSA box is a lot of produce. I supplemented the basil with some from our yard to make a pistachio pesto for dinner tonight. The farm sent out a recipe for the tomatillos and tomatoes. I need to make more zucchini bread. Hopefully the corn will make it to this weekend. The rest... will get used... somehow. I wonder if my mom will want the squash. At least, I think that's what the yellow things are.

Knitting and Radiohead

Confession time. I'm a bit of a YouTube addict. I like (love) to watch all the live videos of my favorite bands. I mean really. When am I ever going to see Radiohead live?!

As for the knitting, I'm making progress. It's getting harder as the rows get longer. There's four new stitches every other row. I sneak in a row here and there. I know it's time to stop when The Big Guy asks, "What you knittin' Mama?"

I could've done worse

Of course, I could've done better. I should've stopped with the Blue Moon Fibers Lightweight in Sock Gate. It's their special color for Sock Summit.

These other skeins were just too pretty to pass up. The are from Becoming Art. The first is Bonita in the Pan colorway.

And this one is Machote in the Outlaw colorway. The colors remind me of Sheba. I'll have to find a special pattern for this one.

Shopping wasn't easy. I kept having people coming up and telling me how cute Little Miss was. And she was kind of cranky so I had to keep doing the baby bounce. She eventually feel asleep but it took a long time. In fact, I think I did something to my back with all the bouncing. It's been hurting all day.

Well, it's past my bedtime. Little Miss hasn't been sleeping as well since we stopped using the air conditioner at night.

We were there!

Little Miss and I went to Sock Summit 2009's marketplace this morning. She had a great time. She really enjoyed all the colors and all the all the people who stopped to talk and smile at her. This is her second yarn related event as she accompanied me to WWKiP Day.

I bought yarn. But more on that later.

Knitting and Tim Finn

Those who know my musical tastes know I love Neil Finn. I also have a huge soft spot for his brother Tim. I especially like his last two solo albums. The video in the back ground is Out of this World which is a beautiful video featuring Tim's cute daughter.

Oh and you might be wondering about the knitting. I've started the Icarus Shawl for my friend Melanie who's going through a lot right now. I don't think she even knows about this blog so I'm not worried about ruining the surprise. It's my first real lace project and I'm a little nervous. The yarn (Alpaca with a Twist Fino) is so thin. And I'm using slippery needles (Addi Turbo Lace) too boot. Fingers crossed.

Girls Rock!

Sometimes I love YouTube. This eight-year old girl wrote this song herself!

Although I have to say, the five-year old boy singing Folsom Prison kind of steals the show. He's just so cute!
