I have been knitting

I just don't have any photos of it. Instead I have a photo of the strawberry freezer jam I made this afternoon. I made two batches of raspberry jam yesterday. And I made two loaves of zucchini bread the day before.

I've been trying to knit a little everyday. Although I wasn't very successful this weekend. I've haven't been sleeping well and am trying to go to bed early. I will have actual knitting photos... soon.

Knitting in the wild

This morning I got out for some knitting time. Last week I went to Starbucks and met another knitter. We chatted via Ravelry and met up this morning. Unfortunately she couldn't stay but we'll try again soon.

I took my mom's sock. I'm starting to get nervous that I won't have enough yarn. I do have some left over yarn in a different colorway that I can use. The toe may end being a different color.

This I can handle

Here's most of our share of this week's farm bag. Rhubarb, broccoli, beets, beans, lettuce and an onion (not in the picture). The broccoli has already been eaten and I'm looking forward to the beets.

I did pretty well with last week's items. The bok choy went bad before I could cook it and the lettuce had an accident (I forgot to out it back in the produce drawer). I even ate most of the kohlrabi. It was... eh. Next time I'll try if with some ranch dressing.

Tomorrow afternoon is the Farmer's Market. I want to get some more rhubarb for another crisp and we're out of strawberries. We can't stop The Boy from picking and then not eating the unripe strawberries from the backyard.

In knitting news - this is a knitting blog after all - I've been making progress on my mom's second Basic Sock. It is so dull I can't wait to be done. I'm on the trim of a baby blanket that I haven't blogged about yet. Pictures soon.

I've decided to put the blacksmith socks aside for now. I don't like how they're pooling. I'm waiting on yarn to knit a baby blanket for a friend.

Our first half

This summer we are splitting a farm box with some friends. Yesterday we got our first half. I'm a little nervous about this farm box thing. I've never cooked bok choy or rhubarb before and I had never even heard of kohlrabi until yesterday. It's going to be an interesting summer.

I made my first crisp with the rhubarb. I had to try it so this is what I had for lunch today.

WWKiP Day

Today was World Wide Knit in Public Day. Little Miss and I met my friend Kylie at the Hillsboro event. And thanks to Kylie I actually got some knitting done! The event was really well organized. How well organized? There were goody bags!

Handmade goody bags!

With small samples of yarn.

There was even a free raffle. And I won a skein of sock yarn! It's from Frog Creek Fibers in their Bubble Gum Ice Cream colorway.

They need to have WWKiP Day more often.

Sock Update

Last week I finished the first of my Basic Socks but I still haven't gotten a picture of it. I started the second sock but put it aside. I decided the simple stockinette stitch would be good hospital knitting. The second sock is now packed in my hospital bag, waiting just like the rest of us.

In the meantime, I cast on another pair of Thuja-Walker socks for Greg. I used yarn that I've had stashed for a long time but never got a photo of (hmmm, that sounds familiar). It is Sunshine Yarns superwash sock yarn in Blacksmith.

I don't really care for the striping. But Greg saw them and said he liked them. That's all that matters.

A permanent record

This afternoon I had a belly cast made. It all started a couple of weeks ago. I was having a prenatal massage and the masseuse told me that she taken a class in belly casts. She needed to do one practice before she could start charging. She asked if I'd be interested in being her guinea pig. All I'd have to pay for is the materials.

At first I wasn't so sure. Then she mentioned the massage I'd get while the cast was drying. I said sign me up! I'm surprised and pleased with how it turned out. I haven't decided on how or if I'm going to decorate it.

Of course, now I have a permanent record of how big I am.
