Sick, sick, sick

The Little Guy, Greg and I have all been sick. That means very little sleep, minimal housework, no knitting and lots and lots of laundry.

I do have some New Year's Resolution updates. The last couple of weeks I've been going to Open Spin Night at Abundant Yarn. I've even managed to get as far as plying some singles. I used leftover roving to practice on. Everything was either over or under spun. I've got more practice roving to work on before I move on to the good stuff.

I don't have pictures of my new yarn but I didn't catalog my roving stash. You can see the photos here. They're at the end of the set.

I also managed to finish the first of Mom's red Jaywalker socks. She has been really nice and let me off the hook for her sweater (the one I've had on the needles for several years). I think she'd given up on it a long time ago. In return, I'm going to knit her two more pairs of socks in addition to the current Jaywalkers. Surely I can knit two pairs of socks in one year. Right?

Of course, this just means I have more Rowan Summer Tweed to get through.

I also went through and cataloged my sock yarn stash. The photos are here. Again, the photos are at the end of the set. Some them have been photographed before.

A bit of explaining

I think all of my New Year's Resolutions are pretty self explanatory except for number seven - Clean up/out second bedroom and paint it. This is the current state of the second bedroom.

As you can see, it's a disaster. Here's the closet.

What a mess! This will one day be The Little Guy's room. At this point, there's no room for him. I'm hoping to start the cleaning up and out part next week. The room is currently purple and that has to change. The painting will have to wait until my husband is done with the carpentry.

I have no knitting to show. The LG hasn't been sleeping well. And when he doesn't sleep well I don't sleep. I cast on the Yarni Cardigan by Mary Lou Egan. Once I get a little further on this I'll post more.

New Hat

I finished The Little Guy's Nottingham Hat from Inner Child Crochet.

I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran on size US9 needles. It's a bit big right now but I hope it will fit when he outgrows his Viking hat. I bought this yarn to make a hat for LG and then search Ravelry for a pattern. Now if only I could find a hat pattern for the Cascade Luna I bought.

Finally

Every year since I started knitting I said I was going to make ornaments. Well, this year I finally did. I knit an (as in one) ornament. This ornament doesn't count towards my resolution because it was knit in 2007.

It's the Mini Mitten Ornament from Pink Argyle. I used yarn left over from this sweater.

I call it his Peppermint Sweater. It's another Placket Neck Pullover from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. It was finished in time for him to wear on Christmas.

I also finished a hat for him over New Year's. I hope to get a picture soon.

Resolutions

1. Finish all four work in progress sweaters.
a. Smolder Sweater
b. Edie Cardigan
c. Sunrise Circle Jacket
Edited to remove Mom's Sweater.

2. Knit at least one more sweater out of Rowan Summer Tweed.

3. Start spinning again (i.e. use the fiber in my stash).

4. Finish Mom's Jaywalker socks and knit her two more pairs. Updated.

5. Take a quilting class.

6. Take a serious look at my stash before buying new yarn. No new yarn for me. I can still buy yarn for The Little Guy once I use what I have (i.e. Pea Pod Baby Set).

7. Clean up/out second bedroom and paint it.

8. Cook more meals with greater variety.

9. Work more in the yard. Grow and eat more veggies and fruit.

10. Make Christmas ornaments and advent calendar.

UPDATED: 11. Update this blog more often with progress on the previous 10 resolutions.
