Years in the Making

I've had the idea for these socks in my head for so long!  It's great to see them done and be able to wear them.

I finished my Making My Own Rainbow socks.  I alternated two colorways (Flames and Daffodil) to make these fraternal twins.  If/when I do something like this again I will alternate every three rows and use colorways with less yellow.

I am really happy with these.  I finished them just in time.  The weather here has gotten wet and grey here.  These socks are very cheery and make me smile.

Last but Not Least

I opened the last two skeins of self striping sock yarn today.  They are beautiful!

I bought two different String Theory Colorworks bases in order to justify buying both skeins.  The rainbow is the Trifolium colorway on the Resonance (100% Merino) and the Halloween yarn is Melanospin on the Inertia (80% Merino/20% Nylon) base.

I need to hurry up and knit my Lollipop rainbows so I can start something new!

Not Rainbow Yarn

And now for something completely different!  Ok.

So, it's not completely different.  It's still sock yarn and self striping.  But it's not rainbow self striping sock yarn!  It's Vesper Sock in the new Electric Revolution Colorway.  I tried to resist this yarn but I caved in the end.  I can't wait to knit this up.  You know, when I'm done knitting rainbows.

Murphy's Law

Over the last few weeks I have ordered four skeins of self striping sock yarn.  They all came in the mail today.  That's right.  All of them.  So far I have only opened one.

This is Trailing Clouds in the Primary-Secondary colorway.  It's funny because I didn't realize until after I bought the yarn it was another rainbow colorway.  I should have guessed based on the name.  But it didn't dawn on me until I was reading about the color stripes.  Yes.  I bought the yarn before fully knowing what colors it had.  I love the base!

Rainbows in Progress

I've made some progress on both my pairs of rainbow socks!  I finished two first socks and got pictures of them.  First up is my Lollipop Yarns in the Great Googly Moogly colorway.  I just an unknown yarn for the toe and heel.  I picked it up in a yarn swap.  The previous owner thinks it was Fortissima sock.

Next is the first of my Making My Own Rainbow socks.  This the one with the Flames cuff, heel and toe.

I was knitting this sock at a parade recently.  Someone walking by said, "That's a loud sock."  I replied, "Yes it is!"  It is loud and proud!
