Not much in the way of knitting

In case you were wondering, I haven’t been doing a lot of knitting lately. Greg and I have been working on the house in an effort to get it ready for the wedding. Whose idea was it to get married here at the house anyway? Oh yeah, mine.

I’ve been working on the living room for over a month now. It started with painting the wall from the living room to the kitchen. Then it was the some what simple task of repainting the ceiling.

First Greg and I scraped the peeling paint of the ceiling. We were then slowed down when we primed the ceiling. Parts of the ceiling were slightly yellow and we couldn’t seem to cover it. It took two coats of primer and four coats (in some areas) of ceiling paint.

Then Greg decided to remove the crown molding. This meant there was a white stripe all along the top of the walls. I thought, no problem. I’ll just paint the stripe yellow. I still had plenty of paint left from painting the wall into the kitchen. That night I looked at it and started to worry. Sure enough, when looking at the room in the morning sun light it was obvious where I had painted the night before. I needed to repaint the entire room.

I went to Miller on Saturday and got another gallon of Cane and started painting. I finished the yellow brush work this morning and this afternoon I did the last coat of white brush work on the ceiling. Now all I have to do is clean the floors and we’ll have our living room back. Yippee! I am really looking forward to it. Our dining room (our temporary living room) may have a better view but the living room has better evening light.

I’ll post some photos of the new and improved living room once the floors are cleaned. The good news is since I’ve been painting the living room yellow, I can use it as a Project Spectrum project.

May Color Swap - Received

Today I got my May Color-iffic-Swap-o-Rama. And it isn't even May yet! Ok, I admit it. I feel guilty. I haven't even finished putting my package together yet. I'm hoping to finish my handmade part tonight.

Here's what the wonderful Emma from Australia sent me.

Stash Sunday - Happiness Is...

And (relatively) new yarn.

The Koigu first. I have three skeins of the top color and two skeins each of the bottom two. I plan on knitting socks them them, someday.

The relatively new yarn is from March. The Cascade on the bottom left is from my wonderful Secret Pal. The rest will be socks, eventually.

I'm just a tease

Here's my favorite photo from the last package my wonderful secret pal sent me.

And here's a shot of my current project.

And just for fun, a photo of Sheba enjoying a sunbeam.

More soon.

Finally finished

I finally finished painting the wall from the living room to the kitchen to night.

My next house project is to tackle the living room ceiling. Look at all that lead paint!

I will have knitting photos tomorrow. I have a most excellent secret pal package to show you. I thought I did a pretty good job but my pal has put me to shame.

Stash Sunday - Foolish

Here is my foolish purchases. I bought all this Rowan Summertweed before actually knitting with it.

As it turns out, cotton and silk blends don't have much stretch and are hard to knit with. Although I love the colors and the patterns I don't really love the yarn. I will, however, knit all this yarn. Someday.
