The house my son built

This morning the Little Guy built this, pointed to it and said "house". Be still my heart.

And now for something completely different

Yesterday I got together with my friend Kylie and she showed me how to do freezer paper stenciling. Why did I wait so long to try this? It is so freaking easy! I am already addicted. I have a ton of t-shirt design ideas in my head. Now I just need to find solid colored t-shirts at a reasonable price.

In the meantime, I don't think I'll be waiting until St. Patrick's Day for the Little Guy to wear this shirt.

It's that time of year again

I know this time of year a lot of people get excited about Peeps. Not me. I get excited about a different candy.

I was good. All I did was take their picture.

Balancing Act

Above is my picture of the day. It is very weak tea. It's my attempt to balance not sleeping well with not drinking too much caffeine. I've entered the third trimester of my pregnancy so sleeping is getting harder. It is so hard to get comfortable and I keep waking up during the night. In the morning I'm pretty tired. But if I have too much caffeine or have it too late in the day I can't get to sleep. I've found even having dark chocolate in the evening is enough to keep me awake.

What has this to do with knitting? Well, by the end of the day I am too tired to knit. I spend most of my evening mindlessly surfing the net or watching bad movies (Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay bad). I have, however, managed to get to row 13 in the purple Nottingham Hat for Little Miss. And I didn't even have to rip out and start over at row five. That's a record.

Yep. Another one.

I may be in a knitting rut. It's just that baby and toddler hats are so quick and use so little yarn. Today my Mom and I took The Little Guy to OMSI. While my Mom played with TLG I cast on another Nottingham Hat in a sort of dusty purple for Little Miss.

I didn't think I'd have a lot of time so I only wrote down the pattern for the brim. I had to use a tape measure from at OMSI to figure out when to stop. I'm just not sure how accurate the tape measure was.

It was really nice to be able to rest and knit while TLG played.

Is there more to life then hats?

Right now there's not much other then hats being knit. I finished the 10 Cable Baby Hat. I used some "stashed" Debbie Bliss Cashmerino in a dusty pink. I tried to make the 5 Cable Hat with the remaining yarn but didn't even make it half way. I'm planning a striped hat using all my left over Cashmerino Aran.

I've made a lot of progress on my Tulip Cardigan. However, I've gotten to a point where I need to weave in ends. That means the cardigan has been put on the back burner for a little bit. I need to be in the right frame of mind for weaving in ends.

Glory Day

Today was the Glory Day of The Little Guy's illness. Today he was in a good mood but didn't have the energy to really rampage through the house. The stomach virus turned into a cold virus. He still has a cough but he's finally starting to feel better. Yesterday was the first day he didn't throw up and he finally pooped. Another day, two tops and he'll be my little viking toddler again.

Now for some knitting. This first hat is for Little Miss. It's another Little Cable hat. This time I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Baby. I think I got the cables backwards. The pattern was temporarily unavailable so I had to knit from memory for a little bit. Fortunately the pattern was available again when I started the decreases.

This is the Candy Cane hat from Handknit Holidays. I used stashed Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in brown and celery green. I still need to weave in the ends and I'm going to try and block it. When I put tried in on TLG it was a bit snug. I'm hoping I can stretch it out a little.

I knit this hat because February is usually one of the coldest months around here. That's hard to believe since it was almost 60 here today.

I've been making good progress on the Tulip Cardigan. It's a nice easy project. Perfect for working on while brain dead after spending the day with a sick toddler. But I was too busy sun bathing to take pictures of knitting today. Maybe tomorrow.
