More soon. I hope.

I heart Edward Gorey

I am a huge Edward Gorey fan. I know he's not for everyone especially his Gashlycrumb Tinies. Imagine my delight when I found these photos of his house featured on Boingboing.

I love all the little collections, books, rocks, glass and cats!

I'm looking forward to seeing the documentary.

Letter of the week - A

Last week The Boy started pre-preschool. Nothing too ambitious, just an hour and a half twice a week. When I dropped him off today I found out they would be concentrating on a letter a week.

This got me all excited and as soon as I got home I searched the web for Letter A crafts. I've found quite a few that I want to try. We'll see how much actually gets done in my sleep deprived state. I did manage to serve him applesauce for lunch. It's a start.

Zippo

That's what I've been up to this week. Little Miss hasn't been sleeping very well so I haven't been sleeping well. I haven't had much energy to create. I even bought sandwich bread this week and will again this week. I knit a little on the baby blanket until I realized I cast on the wrong side.

I am off to bed.

real peaches

Today I made peach freezer jam. I think they are Summer Ladies. I'm looking forward to trying the jam this week.

The lazy person's peaches

When it comes to canning nectarines are the lazy person's peaches. I canned 13 pints of nectarines today. I processed the fruit during Little Misses morning nap. The nectarines soaked in an ascorbic acid bath until her afternoon nap. Then I did the rest. After the bath the peals were falling off but I didn't have time to remove all of them.

Next week - pears.

It's back

Kylie is done with her part of the blanket. Now it's up to me to finish it. All that's left is the border on two sides. That shouldn't be too hard.

I see two more of these blankets in our future. Two more mamas in the play group are pregnant. I'm hoping one of them will have a boy so we can use the leftover yarn from this blanket. There certainly is enough.

Two more

I've started baking our sandwich bread again. This time I made two loaves so Greg could take one to a potluck at work. I think I'll make two again next time and try freezing one. If the frozen loaf still tastes okay I'll start doing that from now on. We go through about two loaves a week.

Not a lot of knitting going on right now. I'm kind of burnt out on the shawl. I may take a couple nights off and work on a sock.

Lost count

I've baked so many loaves of zucchini bread this summer that I've lost count. I honestly can't remember how many I've baked. I even bought zucchini from the farmer's market this weekend in order to make more. It's the one vegetable The Boy knowingly eats. Although there's a good chance he doesn't realize zucchini is a vegetable (or that it's actually green).
