Sigh...

So much for knitting outside this evening...

I started raining again this afternoon. So much for mowing the lawn either. I was hoping to do both.

I've been working away at the Beginner's Triangle and have started my second skein of yarn. I'll post some pictures later this week.

Knitting Outside

It was a lovely evening yesterday so I decided to do some out of doors knitting.

It was a great idea if I do say so myself. I managed to get a lot done. I’m now into the fourth repeat of my Beginner’s Triangle Shawl from A Gathering a Lace .

Here’s a closer look at the diamond pattern in the shawl.

I’m using super soft Baby Alpaca Brush from Plymouth Yarn. I love the yarn. It’s hard to keep myself from petting the ball of yarn (that’s how soft it is).

Of course, the weather has been too crazy for me to chance knitting outside tonight. After lunch today there was a brief thunder and lighting storm followed by pounding rain. You’d think it was still spring and not the day after summer solstice.

Remember this?

I finally finished my first shawl. I’m embarrassed to admit I started this in March! It still needs to be blocked but I finished weaving in the ends on the way to Mike and Adina’s wedding. :)

Here’s the artsy fartsy shot:

Here’s from the back. Unfortunately you can see where I messed up on the yarn overs down the center.

I need to get one more shot so you can tell it’s actually a triangle.

Mike and Adina’s wedding was wonderful! It threatened to rain all day but the sun started to sneak out just before the ceremony. Then the wind came up and there was even some thunder during the service but after that it was gorgeous.

Greg took loads of photos and hopefully Shawn and Julie will get theirs up soon.

In the Mail

Yesterday I got a package from Adrian at helloyarn.com.

Evidently I can take this:

And use this:

And get this:

We'll just have to wait and see.

I’m hoping to try this next weekend. I need to finish my Not so Perfect Pie shawl first. I found a yarn last night that I like for the border. I’m going to take it to Greg’s mom’s house tonight to get crochet advice.

I started the Beginner’s Triangle Shawl from A Gathering of Lace last night. I had to have something to hold me over until I could finish up my pie shawl. I’m using the super soft Baby Alpaca Brush from Plymouth Yarn. I don’t have pictures yet but will have some soon.

Two Birds with One Project?

I signed up for two kint-alongs this week. I’ve never done one before and now I’ve signed up for two! Technically I could use one for the other. Wendy started a Summer of Lace knit-along . You can pick any lace project you want. Then you just post pictures and chat about it. I also joined the Mystery Stole Along. This one gives you clues each week for a lace stole.

Technically I could use the Mystery Stole for the Summer of Lace. But I don’t think I will. Right now I’m just going to collect the clues for the stole and make it later. I don’t have the yarn and the stole along started last week. Also I think I want to do the Beginners Triangle first. Adina and I are going to Mabel’s tomorrow so I’ll see about getting some yarn for it tomorrow.

I know what you’re thinking, and look…

The (not so) Perfect Pie Shawl is finished. Okay, so it’s not completely finished but the knitting part is. Greg’s sister is going to show me how to crochet the border on Saturday. That is if I can find a yarn I like for the border before then. If not, I’ll have to wait until the next time I see her.

At least I know where I went wrong. I made a mistake on the first wedge. Row 38 is very important. When they say repeat 19 times, they mean the entire row. I only repeated 18 times so the second half of the wedge is going the wrong way.

It’s taking all of my will power to not cast on a new project tonight. I’m going to wait until tomorrow night. In the meantime I’ll look at patterns.

Sheba Loves it when I Knit on Cold Nights

Shameless kitty with knitting photo...

Sheba loves the shawl as much as I do. It kept her extra warm the last few nights. We've gone back to our usual "summer" weather.

Wendy Calls It

Wendy has called this summer the Summer of Lace and I have to agree. Right now I’m working on the Perfect Pie Shawl (or the Not So Perfect Pie Shawl in my case). I’m trying to decide what color of Rowan Kidsilk Haze to get to make the Birch Shawl. I’m also just purchased Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle. Then there’s the Flower Basket Shawl and the Paisley Lace Shawl both from Interweave’s Knits.

So much lace, so little time!

Last but not least, I balled up my last skein of hand dyed yarn. I have to admit I liked the look of it better before I balled it up. Now I just need to make something with it.
